This is the other audiovisual translation modality typically associated with linguistic accessibility. Audio description usually involves the transfer of oral text (what is seen on screen) into oral text (what is audio described) in the same language (intralingual). For this reason, it is often not considered a form of translation per se, but rather a means of information facilitation. Standard UNE 153020 (2005: 4) defines audio description as a “communication support service consisting of a set of applied techniques and skills aimed at compensating for the lack of access to the visual component of any type of message, by providing appropriate audio information that translates or explains it, allowing the visually impaired recipient to perceive the message as a harmonious whole, in a way as close as possible to how a sighted person would perceive it.” (Rica Peromingo, 2016: 131)
