This is one of the AVT modalities typically associated with media accessibility. It involves the transfer of spoken language into written text, as in subtitling for the hearing impaired; however, unlike the latter, it is usually intralingual (that is, from an oral language into the same language in written form). According to Standard UNE 153010 (2012), this type of subtitling is defined as a “communication support service that displays on screen, through text and graphics, spoken discourse, suprasegmental information, and sound effects occurring in any audiovisual work.” (Rica Peromingo, 2016: 115)
